Smokey the Bear Visits Florien Elementary School

| On Thursday, October 17th, a special visitor arrived for the FES students of Head Start through third grade. The PTA had arranged for Smokey the Bear to make a visit. Smokey talked to the children about the dangers of fires, fire safety, and fire prevention. The children had fun visiting with Smokey and learning about fire safety. A special presentation was given to the students by the local fire departments in support of National Fire Prevention Week. The students visited with the firemen, viewed the trucks and equipment, and were even given a demonstration on how a fire is extinguished. A special "Thank You!" goes to Smokey the Bear, to Mr. Bobby Chance for organizing this presentation, and to all the wonderful firemen who helped present this program to our children. It was a great and fun learning experience. |
