FESPTA Receives Rural Development Grant

Florien Elementary School was one of the recipients of the recently awarded Rural Development Grants. The purpose of this grant is to purchase items for the playground reconstruction.  State Representative Joe Salter and Senator James David Cain awarded the grant on Friday, February 1, 2002 at City Hall in Many.  Mr. Maxie, Florien Elementary Principal; Imon Jones, School Board Member; Genia Kleven, FESPTA President; Sandee Killian, FESPTA Vice-President, and  Sandie Guillot, FESPTA Photographer and Website Coordinator were there to represent the school.

This is quite an honor for us and we would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Salter and Mr. Cain for all their support.  We also would like to thank the town of Florien and Mayor Rodney Jordan for their support.  The funds will be used to purchase grass, trees, and small equipment for the playground.  We are still awaiting word on the other grants to purchase the larger pieces of playground equipment.
