The Farm

Dividing Ridge Farm began as a dream when the Tarvers purchased property at the site of  Fort Jesup - a former Military Post established in 1822. They setup house in the early 1940's with not much more than lots of love and determination. There was a little house, a dairy, a beef cattle operation, an old country store, and plenty of daylight-to-dark work to be done.

The dream really began to take shape when Rick was born. He was introduced to all the happenings of farm life - he took them in and developed over the years into what some refer to as a "jack-of-all-trades". Today he is mostly responsible for the development and construction of the necessary things all farms require.

One of his best ideas was to marry Mary Beth - they assumed the joint duties of farm life, raising their three children, and managing their careers - both are teachers at Northwestern State University.

Mary Beth and Rick continue to develop Dividing Ridge Farm where you will find quality Quarter Horses and Welsh Ponies. Today, the farm includes the operation at Fort Jesup as well as leased property in the Many, Louisiana area. Each summer Mary Beth (The Trail Boss) presents Fun Camp and Equestrian Camp where young horse enthusiast learn and develop their skills.
