For Her

Chorus:
She keeps me from falling down
I can stand 'cause she's around
She's my ship in stormy weather,
And points out the right road whenever
I don't' know which step to take,
Keeps me from making those same mistakes
That I made when she wasn't here before
She's like an open door,
That's closed against the lonely past
She keeps me from falling down

Walking through my windy nights
Her laughing eyes are shining lights
That show the way
To the brand new dawning day
And I wonder
And she smiles
And when I stumble in this world's nightmare dream
She simply whispers that I can lean
And I wonder
And she just smiles
And the days go by like a hurricane
That lea to nights and I go insane
And I start falling
And she stands
And when my foundations start to shake
Too much bad news and I might break
And I start falling,
And she stands,
Holds out her hands,

Chorus

To Try 14 September, 1997 11:29:54 PM (For Tina, My Only...)
Communication interupted just as we had learned to say hi, We've barely had enough time to laugh, let alone cry. And 'tho the time we have had has always seemed to fly, It has always been sweet enough to teach us that we have to try. I never knew how lost I was until I found you, And I never knew how potent love was until I found one true. And although I stand alone tonight beneath the moon and sky, I can feel you standing in my heart softly urging me to try. And my heart tells me that if I want to again hear you sigh, If I want to see again the eyes that with the sun do vie, If I want to again kiss your sweet lips and so sweetly die, Then I must now and ever continue to try. The months and their aggravations have flown by like the wind. But through it all we have come closer to each other again and then again. So, as the years and their joys and sorrows pile high, Together we will prevail if only we but try. And my heart tells me that if I want to again hear you sigh, If I want to see again the eyes that with the sun do vie, If I want to again kiss your sweet lips and so sweetly die, Then we must now and ever continue to try.

Something for You The moonlight reminds me of you...isn't that funny? The starlight tells me of you...even when it's sunny. The days are filled with you...and then there are the nights, My world sparkles so much more when you are in my sight. I wish I had the words, or even borrow some, But even if I had them, I'd tell you for a year and not be close to done. I haven't felt this way since my lungs first took air, I haven't all the words to say just how much and how I care. I am sure of one thing only-you must be everything- You took my heart so lonely and taught it how to sing. Can you feel just what it is that brings me close to you? Do these words impart at all-I feel they are too few.... And so I say, and so I say, and then I say some more: It's you, it must be you that I've been waiting for. I had to tell you something of how my feelings grew... So read these lines and know that they are for you. Cliff Lake 10/9/'97

I wrote this next piece for some guy who never even bothered to say thank you... I cursed him with warts... Is It Cold In Georgia? It's been too long since I have felt the sun, It's been too long since I have seen my one, September was an age ago, And I have been freezing since I saw you go. Would that I could cross these miles, And see your face and feel your smiles. For, it's cold here now without you, hon, And I need once more to feel my sun. Too little time has seen us, Too many miles between us. Too little time spent in your warm arms, and I wonder - Is it cold in Georgia in the summer? Can I find you ever again ? Will I feel the warm air again ? Do you still hold me high in your heart ? Are we still close though so far apart ? Too little time has seen us, Too many miles between us. Too little time spent in your warm arms, and I wonder - Is it cold in Georgia in the summer? It seemed with you that there went the sun, It seems that now my world is undone. Now all is dark-both night and day, To you my thoughts must always stray.... Too little time has seen us, Too many miles between us. Too little time spent in your warm arms, and I wonder - Is it cold in Georgia in the summer? Cliff Lake 6/24/'97

Would You

 You could inspire me.
With a wave ,a word, or a whisper,
 You could inspire me.

 You could make me see.
With a glance, a gleam, or a glimpse,
 You could make me see.

 You could make me be.
With your flame, your flaws ,your flesh,
 You could make me be.

 Chorus:

You could inspire me if you so chose.
You could make me be like no one else does.
 You could make me see...
Like I see you every time my eyes are closed.
 Would you?

 You could make me free.
Lend but a part of your spirit
 And help me be free.

 You could make me flee.
If I do not open the door,
Then I will surely turn and flee.

 You could inspire me.
With a wave, or a word, or a whisper,
 You could inspire me.
Would you?

Building the Dream
("There can be only one...")
I remember wandering over this world on my own, I remember wandering here knowing I was alone. I remember that sadness filled my heart, I remember feeling that gladness would never start. But then you entered my life, my special friend. It seemed immediately I saw the darkness end. For we soon started a partnered scheme, And together we began to build our dream. Two hearts that called out as one, Two lives to meld - it has begun. Two people that need to share each other’s gleam, This is why we must build the dream. I am not perfect, I find that I fall and fail... But having you here, love, allows me to prevail. And I will stand beside you through all of our years, Even if all I do is catch your falling tears. But between us I sense a rock on which we stand. A place from which we can work as one - hand in hand. For us the world is not cold ,as it once did seem - For us the world is now a place to build our dream. Two hearts that sing out as one, One life to build - we have begun. The two of us that have become more than a team, And we will live our lives living our dream.
